Ascend U.S.
Ascend was founded in 2014 on a simple but powerful belief: When empowered to challenge themselves physically, women gain the confidence and leadership necessary to transform their lives, their communities, and the world.
We're committed to helping women in the U.S. create lasting personal growth through pursuits combining challenge, connection, community and practical skill-building. Through climbing and outdoor experiences, we're providing participants with meaningful lessons that translate into their everyday lives.
We believe every woman deserves the opportunity to discover her strength, develop her voice, and realize her potential. That’s why we’re committed to creating safe, supportive spaces where girls can thrive while building confidence, resilience, leadership, and community through outdoor adventure, physical activity, and personal development.

73%
of climbers say the sport has a positive impact on their mental health.
Affinity Groups: Creating Supportive Communities
Backed by nearly 15 years of success, our curriculum empowers participants to confront fear, build trust, develop resilience, and celebrate achievement.
Participants are welcomed into a supportive peer network where they build meaningful friendships, develop a sense of belonging, and support one another's growth.
In 2021, Ascend was forced to evacuate many of its members in Afghanistan. Today, many of those girls are thriving around the world, and Ascend is launching its first U.S.-based program just outside Washington D.C.
"Women deserve a world that recognizes and embraces all of the good they’re capable of doing. And that’s exactly what we intend to give them."
Marina LeGree, founder and executive director
