PAKISTAN
Ascend launched its program in Pakistan in 2023, based in the spectacular mountains of Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan. We build confidence in girls and young women, using the outdoors as our classroom. We invest deeply in the training of local women who form our team of Instructors. International professional outdoor instructors and guides provide on-site training, following globally recognized standards of safety and technical competence.

In 2024, our first batch of instructors passed the Single Pitch Instructor exam through a collaboration with the American Mountain Guides Association. They now lead climbing and leadership development activities for girls across Gilgit-Baltistan.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Our instructors share their knowledge and skills with the community, shifting perceptions and offering opportunity to diverse groups. By partnering with the provincial government and local schools, we create joyful experiences outdoors for children with hearing or visual impairment, schoolgirls, mothers who wish to learn about fitness, and more.
Our instructor team works to protect the landscapes we depend upon by designing cleanup projects and making presentations to schoolchildren about environmental responsibility.
