There have been many tears of frustration, anger and sadness within our team but yesterday they were of relief.
We are pleased to announce that another group managed to get out of Afghanistan and are now in a secure location. Among them were 7 children and our longest serving staff member, who has been with us since the beginning. He has been invaluable to Ascend and we wouldn’t have had a bouldering wall without him.
This group and the girls who remain in Kabul do not all have papers yet. We have papers for some to go to Poland, Ireland, France and Slovakia but need additional permissions for them to stay permanently and work there. In addition we have MPs in the UK who have lobbied on our behalf but with no results yet.
We continue to work on solutions for the remaining members in Afghanistan. To do this, we need your help to lobby government representatives, both in the countries above and elsewhere.
