Ascend: Leadership Through Athletics is proud to announce a new partnership with U.N. Women Afghanistan to implement the Building Climate Resilience and Social Cohesion in Dasht-e-Barchi project in Kabul.
The project places women and youth at the center of community-based climate action. Women have an important role in household water management, environmental practices, community awareness, and social cohesion. Through the project, women will have opportunities to participate in community discussions, share their experiences and perspectives, identify local environmental challenges, and contribute to practical solutions.
The project will also support the establishment and strengthening of Climate and Water Management Committees, providing opportunities for women and community members to contribute to discussions and decisions related to water management, waste reduction, peace budling and climate resilience.
Together, ASCEND and UN Women are supporting practical community-based solutions, including the installation of greywater systems and waste bins, while promoting greater awareness and participation of women and youth in addressing local environmental challenges.
Through this partnership, ASCEND and UN Women aim to contribute to safer, more resilient, and more inclusive communities in Sharek Etifaq , Dasht-e-Barchi, Kabul.
