About The Event
Join us for the Richmond premiere of Ascending Afghanistan: Rising Women. Peak Experiences & Ascend are partnering to promote a screening of Ascend's documentary film on January 2. Meet Marina LeGree, Ascend's founder, and learn what the girls of Ascend have been up to since the film was made.
This event is a fundraiser for Ascend, a registered 501(c)3. All donations will go toward Ascend's current effort to train and certify Afghanistan's first ever rock climbing instructors.
A VICE Impact production, the film follows Afghanistan's first female mountaineering team as they attempt their first ascent of a previously unclimbed peak in stunning Panjshir province, conquer the complex social boundaries of being a young woman in Kabul, and return home victoriously.
