Music for a Cause

In this special event on December 12th at 3pm EST, we will share the story of the girls of Ascend through the stunning cinematography of their journeys. This fundraising event will feature an exclusive musical performance, by Gramophonic, an Americana group from the U Street-Columbia Heights area of Washington DC that share their passion for the stories of Afghanistan. The band's songs explore members’ past lives there through the American folk, blues, and roots music they grew up with. They will also perform some songs from their folk musical Tear a Root from the Earth that uses both American and Afghan folk music. Suggested donation: $50.
